Managed Care Finance• Perform analyses to assess financial performance of managed care contracts, evaluate trends in utilization and patient mix, and examine payors’ compliance with contract terms and rates• Design and manage projects to enhance database, reporting, and communication capabilities to meet needs of department and other internal customers • Train and inform staff throughout the hospital regarding rates, contract terms, payor websites and internal resources, and new policies and procedures related to managed care • Research and resolve contractual and operational issues through collaboration with health plan contacts and hospital staff

Govern contract compliance for a 10+ hospital network, providing VP of Finance and senior management with analysis for the betterment of current contract performance. Manage relationships between hospitals and health plans on contract related issues including patient accounts, managed care, and utilization management. Conduct complex quantitative analyses to assess the financial and case-mix impact of managed care contracts, proposals, and programs network-wide, drawing upon hospital cost accounting system and other internal/external databases.

Evaluated options for local government action to prevent the exposure of city residents to the toxic effects of perchloroethylene by dry cleaners. Served on 4-person team of NYU graduate candidates. Analyzed and examined health, environmental, and land use regulations as well as finance and tax policies to identify regulatory, fiscal, and consumer demand tools with the potential to phase out perchloroethylene use. Assessed economic impact and conduct cost benefit analysis to converting to alternative cleaning technologies. Reviewed comparative models adopted in other cities, states, and countries.

Acted as School of Medicine liaison between the department and awarding agency for the financial management of clinical trial subcontracts. Compiled and analyzed financial information for multiple hospital departments to develop accurate projections.

Improved efficacy of large, metropolitan hospital system through consulting efforts centered on managing hospitals’ sales and inventory trends. Streamlined client hospitals’ existing ordering processes and engineered innovations that resulted in customer cost savings. Advanced to a $70M territory after outperforming and exceeding goals on previous $17M territory. Vigorously managed customers’ payables resulting in reductions of close to $1M per fiscal year. Demonstrated expertise in presenting, reporting, and analyzing trends to strategically resolve problems. Served as a task force leader within various facets of Cardinal including distribution, operations, and marketing.

Worked as a consultant on a project with the Leadership Fund to use both quantitative and qualitative data collection to assess the efficacy of after school programs sponsored by the Department of Education.
