About Bongkyum Chung
Have been working on developing and refactoring the visualization pipeline(specifically the Runtime team) for years which is the core of Tableau’s visualization product. As a part time job related but separate from the dev work, leading the test community improving quality of the products.Have worked on various performance areas, desktop client, web client to packaged server products to front-end web servers to backend servers, measuring/instrumenting/analyzing/reporting and improving. After crazily digging into ways of making Bing's SERP page more faster throughout as a software (design) engineer and shortly working at Live Labs before it shut down, moved to Tableau Software, one of the hottest business intelligence company, to work on the performance of the products of different forms - desktop, server and the cloud - working on projects fully involving all the stages of the development process and infrastructure.Previously worked for the Microsoft development tools and platform division. Before that, did technical consulting, created multiple high profile web projects, created server and client products(telnet client, web browser, server authentication product) and so on. Have been a known blogger in Korea. Blog had over 100,000 hits a month. Has lots of non-specific platform experiences.I'm a software fanatic with a spectrum of engineering experiences throughout the IT industry. Have been working with computers after the first encounter with an Atari 400, and have been doing development as a job since '95 with bunch of technologies and languages, etc. Done lots of system integration projects on large Korean companies on different role levels, worked on multiple software products that are well known.Specialties: Performance engineering - Instrumentation/Measurement/Analysis/Optimization and related features.
