I have been professionally building high-quality, efficient, secure, and well-tested software for over 18 years. I am passionate, team-oriented, data-driven, and opinionated; and I seek to work with others who share similar values.I assert that building great software starts with building great teams, whose members emphasize the values of respect, ownership, and follow-through. A culture where senior engineers write designs all day every day, and hand them off to siloed junior engineers to translate into code all day every day, is not optimally productive, nor personally rewarding for anyone involved, and is all too common. I want to write code alongside my peers, experiment with and learn new programming languages and libraries and patterns, and be told that I am wrong when I am, no matter how many letters are in my job title.The beauty of code is that it can be iterated upon over time. I believe in a rapid development cycle, wherein releases are frequent, and powered by a healthy amount of experimentation and data analysis, to resolve ambiguity and maintain momentum. Very few decisions are so-called "trap doors" which cannot be undone.I believe in using the right tool for the job, and no one size fits all. Sometimes using different technologies to do the same job for different use cases makes sense. Sometimes duplicating code is sensible. Sometimes abstractions cost more than they solve. I mean, they usually don't, but sometimes they do, and that's why this line of work is exciting.Anyway, I guess that's my long-winded rant on software development. If you agree with that, let's talk!
