Brian is tasked with developing and delivering thought leadership and strategic policy direction for the Association and implementing substantive change through key stakeholder management at the highest level for British Marine and the UK leisure marine industry as a whole. Brian acts as a key spokesperson for British Marine, leading on policy issues of the day. He is also responsible for the development of research that British Marine produces to support the industry.

Responsiblities include:• Managing direct lobbying campaigns in the House of Lords, House of Commons and with Civil Servants • Managing annual Parliamentary Reception with the Royal Yaching Association• Organising industry visits for government officials and MP’s. • Representation of the Leisure Marine Industry on a number of government stakeholder groups • Management of external PA consultants, Mandate, Hogarth & Penrose (MHP) Communications. • Maintaining strong and professional relationship with the UK Marine Unit in BIS • Leisure Marine Industry member of the Tourism Alliance • Member of the BSI Tourism Committee and UK nominated expert on an ISO working group for Marinas • UK Stakeholder in European Commission Study into disposal of composite boat hulls. • Managing Industry response to Government consultations, including the “Red Tape Challenge”.• Industry expert on the Red Tape Challenge Marine & Water Sounding Board • Line management of staff • Exhibitor with the "Boating Alliance" at Party Conferences • Providing strategic advice and briefings to the Chief Executive and board members
