Senior Policy Advisor, Justice Reform
Current• Lead the creation of the $23 million Center for Diversion and Services that provides 24/7 pre-arrest diversion for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, housing, and poverty concerns.• Advocate legislatively with coalitions to increase funding and expand the Policing Alternatives and Diversion Initiative and Grady Hospital’s Mobile Crisis Response Unit citywide.• Co-create a three-year justice reform strategic plan with a diverse range of community members and stakeholders and operationalize more than 50 innovative community safety policy recommendations.• Double capacity for deflection of non-emergency calls from the Atlanta Police Department’s (APD) E-911 Unit to ATL311, thereby preserving APD resources for more critical public safety concerns.• Establish the Office of Violence Reduction, including providing thought leadership toward its vision and programming such as life coaching and community-based violence interventions.• Oversee implementation of more than 200 APD policy recommendations, publish a use of force data dashboard, and convene local stakeholders to develop fine and fee reform policy proposals.
