After 34 years in Silicon Valley I retired to focus on climate activism, seeking to take a role in solving - or at least managing - our era's emerging crisis.It's pretty obvious that if we do it right, we create the smart, prosperous, and ethical civilization of our future. It's also obvious that if we drag our feet, we open a long, long period of societal chaos, food price inflation, health harms, deeply unfair refugee flows, and probably the rise of totalitatarian governments replacing fragile democracies.Through a sober response, the spirit of our era can propel a healthy economy, create business and personal-growth opportunities, and inspire vital civic engagement. It is not an exaggeration that creating the smart civilization - that our kids deserve - will also put cash into family wallets. Hope is a renewable resource.
