• As a Data Architect, I have responsibility for working with the development teams, to design and build database objects, and write PL/SQL code to support FirstBank projects. Accomplishments include:
• Worked with the Java and Windows development teams to design, create, and manage database objects, using an Agile development methodology (using both Scrum and Kanban).
• As a member of the Enterprise Data Team, led the initiative to build an Agile System of BI, leveraging Data Vault 2.0 design concepts to deliver actionable information to the business.
• Designed the data structures and wrote the PL/SQL package to calculate Customer Risk Scores.
• Provided primary support for the Anti-Money Laundering system, which included the design and building of database objects, as well as coding program modules in PL/SQL.
• Extensive query tuning using AWR, Explain Plan, OEM 12c, and other tools. Tuning was done during design and testing, as well as in the production environment

• As a Senior Database Administrator, I have responsibility for managing Oracle 11.2.0.3 and SQL Server 2005/2008 databases, supporting eBags.com, the Enterprise Data Warehouse, and other applications. Accomplishments.
• Worked with the development team to design, create, and manage database objects.
• Extensive query tuning experience using AWR, Explain Plan, SQL Trace and other tools.
• Made significant performance improvements to the production system by doing extensive SQL tuning, correctly sizing the redo logs, and tuning the memory parameters.
• Used Oracle Data Guard and a Physical Standby database at a second Data Center, to provide high availability for eBags.com. Created a test Data Guard environment, so we could test changes before making them on.
• Supported the migration of our primary databases to a new Data Center.

• As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, I had sole responsibility for supporting 15 Oracle 11.2.0.3 databases, supporting Claims Processing, Member Eligibility, Pharmacy, and other applications. Accomplishments.
• Worked with a small team to design and build a new Enterprise Data Warehouse, using Data Vault and Dimensional data modeling.
• Backed up, restored, and duplicated databases using RMAN, Net Backup, and EMC Data Domain. Implemented block change tracking to reduce the run time on incremental backups.
• Upgraded databases to Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.3). Applied quarterly security patches.
• Installed Oracle 11.2.0.3 Grid Infrastructure and moved all databases from file system storage to ASM Disk Groups.
• Used Range and List partitioning to facilitate loading and querying large tables.

Supervised a team of DBA’s responsible for providing Database Administration support for Oracle, DB2, and SQL*Server databases, and a team of Storage Engineers responsible for managing a multi-tiered EMC storage environment. Scheduled and provided a 7 x 24 support service for business critical applications, including cabelas.com, Peoplesoft (CRM and FSCM).

Provided Database administration support for 170 production, development, and test Oracle database instances, including installation, patching, upgrading, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, physical design, and security. Implemented a physical standby database on cabelas.com, providing a disaster recovery environment for that business.

• Provided Oracle DBA support for the IDASM project; an Order Entry and Service Management system supporting the sale of long distance services in Europe.
• Provided full DBA support for ten development, test, and training database instances, including backup and recovery, query analysis, performance tuning, space management, as well as designing and creating the schema.
• For the production database, responsibilities included creating and maintaining the schema objects, capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning.
• Used PL/SQL and SQL*Loader to write stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers to support the application.
• Wrote scripts to populate large reference tables using SQL*Loader.
• Utilized Oracle’s Import/Export utility to move data between databases. The application was implemented using oracle 8i on a Sun E450, running Solaris 2.8. Development tools used include Oracle Designer, TOAD, PL/SQL.

• Provided Oracle DBA support for the MARS project, a marketing data warehouse storing information on perspective WorldCom customers. DBA responsibilities included:
• designing both the logical and physical database
• creating DDL scripts to create the database instance as well as the database objects
• performance tuning on application queries
• backup and recovery using Recovery Manager
• writing SQL*Loader scripts to load the staging tables
