I am a retired manufacturing engineer, with about 20 years as a tool and die maker. My experience in these trades has given me the ability to view things from a different perspective; that is, from “outside the box.” Just when you think that a “roadblock” can’t be overcome, I have come up with a fresh idea. I love to say that my job these days is making other people’s dreams come true, whether the dream is as simple as being able to continue to live in their home or putting one of my unique creations on their coffee table for display.I am a craftsman who works primarily with wood and gourds. However, I also try to stretch my talent to try out other media when I sees a piece that I would like to create. Most recently, I have started working with copper to create some artistic pieces. Over the years I have not only grown in the depth of my artistic interests, but also in the breadth of my creations. Check them out on the “Products” page at my website, www.versatile-design.com. In addition to developing my craft, I have taken on a number of special projects at the request of customers. For example, I built an unusual desk for a chiropractor’s’ office from a drawings provided by an interior designer. Upon completion of the desk, I built a very modern lavatory for the hallway at the same chiropractor’s office. I have built kitchen islands, created a bathroom wall treatment that resemble a sauna, and built and installed a metal fireplace mantle and hearth.
