Director Of Threat Research And Reporting
CurrentAs a Director of Threat Research, I handle several vital responsibilities across the organization.1. Management of Bitdefender’s threat research blogs. I launched the company’s first blog in May 2008 with Hotforsecurity (formerly known as Malware City) and gradually built three others catering to technical and business audiences (Bitdefender Labs, Bitdefender Business Insights and Bitdefender IOT Security Insights). HotForSecurity and Bitdefender Business Insights received the world’s best cyber-security blog awards several times in a row, while the Bitdefender Labs blog frequently breaks the news on targeted attacks, cyber-espionage, and sophisticated malware campaigns. 2. Product management for the Ransomware Decryption tools since 2014. In this role, I own the free ransomware decryptor strategy.3. Threat research and reporting. In this role, I report directly to the CEO and support the company’s strategic efforts in communicating advanced threats and high-profile PR activities or media relations. I have been acting as a spokesperson on threat research and technical matters since 2008, and tier-1 technology publications worldwide have constantly quoted me. 4. CVE Numbering Authority. I coordinate the company’s efforts as a CVE Numbering Authority in partnership with MITRE. In this role, I handle the allocation of CVE numbers for internal (bug-bounty) and external (security audits and penetration testing) security issues and oversee the publication of CVEs according to the coordinated vulnerability disclosure practices. I report dotted line to the CISO and work with multiple internal and external stakeholders in this role.
