BACKGROUND: The Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), onsite of the Arnold Air Force Base, conducts developmental testing and evaluation of aircraft, missile, and space systems/subsystems at the flight conditions through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight testing. AREA OF WORK: I worked in both the Propulsion Wind Tunnel Facility (PWT) and the Von Karman Gas Dynamics Facility (VKF) as a Plant Operations and Mechanical Systems Engineer for supersonic and hypersonic wind tunnels and their plant equipment. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: My roles and responsibilities included planning and overseeing the operation of the wind tunnels' main and auxiliary plant equipment, troubleshot equipment failures, organizing and leading preventative and corrective maintenance efforts on plant equipment, and working with the design group to design and install new plant systems as well as to modify existing systems. Some examples of these systems include high-pressure desiccant dryer systems, multi-stage reciprocating gas compressors, and high-pressure seal air.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at JR Automation I worked with senior mechanical and control systems engineers to assisted in the design components and assemblies for highly specialized automation machinery using Solidworks (CAD software). Additional tasks and responsibilities included constructing conceptual CAD models, creating and reviewing fabrication and assembly drawings, and assisting in the assembling of machine prototypes.
