This included a review of the information that is currently available in Burundi; a field visit to and review of prospective gold deposits investigated previously and the synthesis of all the available data with a view to providing a recommendation as to whether a new exploration and mining operation is viable. ►Ghana – provision of expert advice to an exploration company in Ghana as to the best techniques and service providers they could employ for their gold exploration. ►South Africa - Undertook a review of the Kimberley Mines Information Memorandum materials provided by De Beers to all parties interested in tendering for the right to process the dumps at Kimberley Mines. ►Botswana – contracted by a consortium looking into the Trans Kalahari Railway feasibility to critically review Russian technology which had been previously identified as a potential tool to assist in compiling a mineral resource inventory of Botswana.Provision of specialist technical courses on exploration geophysics for geoscientists to exploration companies and universities.

I was a Director reporting to shareholders and investors running a private Mongolian company managing Mongolian investment opportunities on behalf of Australian and American private equity investors. These investments amounted to more than $50 million across 4 companies comprising more than 150 employees and contractors. Commodities in the portfolio included gold, copper, molybdenum, silver, lead, zinc, fluorspar, coal, coal bed methane, quartz and oil.My Brief▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ►Together with the shareholders, I formulated and enacted the strategy to grow the investment into the Mongolian resource market. ►Participated in annual project, strategy and budget review presentations to the principal shareholders and investors in London. ►Assisted the shareholders to attract new investors to further the operations in Mongolia. ►Identified and evaluated new gold, base metals, copper, iron ore and coal resource investment opportunities. ►Directed the technical, social and other aspects for the Feasibility Study on Fluorspar Mining for ARVIN Monspar (a portfolio subsidiary company), whose resources had the potential to comprise a significant portion of world production. ►Investigated, tested and implemented new geoscientific techniques to further geological knowledge of ore deposits. ►Completed the legal shutdown of the company, with no legal ramifications. ►I was responsible for all stakeholder engagement strategies and activities.

No, notifiable safety accidents were recorded after the implementation of the system.►Identified and evaluated new gold, base metal and copper resource investment opportunities.►Completed a JORC compliant resource definition of fluorspar deposits, including more than 200 diamond core boreholes, undertaken in under 6 months as part of the technical aspects of a Feasibility Study for ARVIN Monspar (a portfolio subsidiary company).►Completely overhauled and revised the exploration departments and their strategies in the portfolio companies, thereby ensuring effective, efficient return on investment for the investors.►Implemented a modernised system to drill, log, sample and assay and interpret the boreholes thereby reducing project time six-fold as compared to previous exercises by the portfolio companies in similar environments. This included rigorous drill contractor selection, monitoring and quality assurance.►Designed and implemented a centralised digital geological database for all the exploration and legacy data of the portfolio companies, thereby improving data integrity and security.Implemented and assured adherence to strict sample collection, transport, assay, recording and reporting procedures, including laboratory selection and quality control and assurance protocols.

I was a Consultant running a private management consultancy service specialising in all aspects of project and strategic management, exploration and mining companies in Botswana, as well as for management consulting consortia providing services to Botswana government initiatives.►Provided project and business management services for the “Business Plan for the Botswana Transport Hub” a six-year strategic plan for the Government of Botswana performed by Logistics Planning Services.►Provided project and quality management for the “Consultancy for the Development of a Feasibility Study into the Establishment of Biodiesel Production in Lobatse” conducted for the Ministry of Mineral Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Botswana by Future Fuels Africa.►Coordinated the project plan and quality control of a tender proposal for “Consultancy Services for Auditing of the Business Plan for the Zambezi Integrated Agro-Commercial Development.►Project”, as requested by the Ministry of Agriculture of Botswana, for Performance Resources.►Undertook numerous confidential exploration projects for clients in Botswana and India searching for kimberlites, base and precious metals (Copper, gold, silver, lead, zinc and diamonds).►Formulated the business and total exploration strategy to undertake CBM exploration on behalf of Australian investors in Botswana. The application to acquire licenses was shortlisted amongst more than 10 other applications.

The company undertaking Greenfield, Brownfield and Near-mine exploration for De Beers in Botswana, a world leader in diamond exploration. At commencement of the role, this operation had a budget of $18 million and 120 employees and 60 contractors spanning 4 projects, including the feasibility study on AK6, a kimberlite which was subsequently sold to Lucara Diamond Corporation and opened as the Karowe mine.Project ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬►Formulated a new strategic direction for exploration in Botswana and compiled the Strategic Plan. This was the first time that such a rigorous plan had been compiled.►Restructured the company in line with this strategic plan and budgetary requirements, resulting in a 75% reduction in exploration spend and a 65% cut in personnel.►Improved government relations through appropriate engagement and corrected historical legal compliance issues that were threatening the security of tenure of exploration permits.►Managed all aspects of the preparation for the presentation at the statutory Board Meetings.

A unique Airborne Gravity Gradiometer project, conceived by De Beers, utilising a Zeppelin airship to collect airborne geophysical data. This project, with an annual budget of $10 million, was awarded the Pioneering Award at the International Mines and Money Conference (2006) and consisted of a team of 30 contractors drawn from multiple suppliers. The project implantation required researching and adopting the best methodologies to acquire, process and interpret the data, ensuring at all times that the end product was valid, of use, and financially justified for the shareholder• Achieved tenfold productivity improvements over traditional gravity surveying methods of equal resolution, which facilitated sound exploration decisions to be made; the rapid advancement of projects and the safe relinquishment of licenses’ that had been held for their full legal tenure.• Built the largest hangar in Botswana for the Zeppelin at Sir Seretse Khama Airport within five months from securing capital, obtaining permissions through to completion. This was necessary for the Zeppelin to undertake mandatory annual inspections and critical repairs during the project.

The company managing De Beers’ exploration activities in the DRC, uponresumption of activities immediately after the civil war and prior to the first democratic elections. This consisted of a budget of $15 million and a staff complement of 50 employees and contractors.• Identified new possible Joint Venture partners, which expanded the exploration license portfolio in areas previously not accessible to the company.• Managed Provincial and National Government and Stakeholder relations.• Oversaw the resumption of activities immediately post the civil war in DRC; formulation of the Strategic Plan; acquisition of personnel, licenses’, equipment and premises.

Oversaw the startup and commencement of exploration activities when activities resumed after the civil war. This included liaison with government departments and provincial authorities, joint venture partner identifiction and relationship management.

The company managing De Beers’ exploration activities in the Republic of Guinea. A budget of $5 million and a staff complement of 50 employees and 30 contractors.• Restructured the exploration operation which resulted in the execution of the final work programmes within budget.• Liquidated three subsidiary companies thereby streamlining the corporate structure.• Managed and ultimately terminated exploration Joint Ventures with local companies, which facilitated the withdrawal of De Beers from Guinea without any legal ramifications.

The company responsible for providing the technical guidance for De Beers exploration activities in the entire Africa.• Negotiated substantial reductions in airborne surveying costs (> 50%) with no sacrifice in the quality of the data collected.• Investigated and initiated the use of CSAMT, a geophysical technique for kimberlite delineation, thereby improving structural knowledge of kimberlites at a reduced drilling cost.

The Geophysical Services Division within Anglo American Head offices wasresponsible for providing the technical guidance for Anglo’s’ exploration activities worldwideResponsible for Airborne Geophysical Surveying.Oversaw the collection and quality control of airborne geophysical data for Anglo American and De Beers throughout Africa, for gold, base metal, diamond and other exploration projects thereby ensuring that rapid, informed exploration decisions could be made by the exploration managers and geologists.

CSIR is a South African parastatal research organisation, who together with industry is tasked to find new and innovative technical solutions to problems encountered in various fields.Oversaw the successful field trials of a new in-mine and near-mine high resolution geophysical delineation technique within Canadian copper, copper-nickel, and copper-zinc mines.Led the team that designed and implemented a new ground penetrating radar software package as part of the Rock Radar development, which led to the team achieving the “Divisional Team of the Year”.
