I am a shareholder with the 90-year-old law firm of Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman and the former head of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. My entire 30-year legal career has been devoted to business litigation involving creditors' rights and bankruptcy matters. I have represented Chapter 11 debtors in cases involving real estate interests, golf courses, hotels, restaurants and manufacturing businesses. I have also represented creditors in all matters from complex commercial reorganizations to individual debtor discharge and dischargeability objections, to stay relief litigation. I have also represented both chapter Trustees in business and consumer cases which have involved fraudulent transfer and preference avoidance actions, alter ego related claims and objections to exemptions. My practice typically involves representation of lenders, where I recently worked on a large lender's behalf on the Lou Pearlman Ponzi scheme case. I'm also a Certified Circuit Civil Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court, mediating over 75 bankruptcy and foreclosure related disputes since 2006. I was one of the three court appointed Mediators in the highly publicized Taylor, Bean & Whitaker mortgage fraud case that involved billions of dollars in claims and several hundred adversary proceedings. I, along with WHWW attorney Andrew Roy, and with assistance from other attorneys throughout the Florida bankruptcy community, and in conjunction with the Florida Bar Association's Bankruptcy/UCC Committee, edit and produce monthly summaries of all bankruptcy cases from the Florida Bankruptcy Courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
