Brad is the software architect and hands-on programmer for BlackBerry Gateway, as well as BBM Enterprise and its SDK for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, and other devices. Brad designs, coordinates and implements the underlying details that make these BlackBerry products work, including security and encryption, messaging, networking and packet processing, persistence and databases, inter-process and inter-component interfaces, OS abstraction, requirements capture and analysis, product feature design, process efficiencies and diligence, tool chain management, third-party software integration, porting, automated testing, and much more. Brad is a hands-on, veteran C++ programmer with a wide interest and deep, wide expertise in software development.Previously, Brad worked in a similar role on the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System product on the server and client.

As a member of the America On-Line Architecture Council, Brad shaped the AOL Voice Services products including AOL Call Alert, AOL Voicemail, AOL Email by Phone, and many others, as well as the formerly independent InfoInterActive's pioneering Internet Call Manager. Brad quickly rose from a co-op student to the architect where he lead by example as a hands-on C++ programmer integrating at first custom hardware and later custom SIP, RTP, messaging, media processing, and other network stacks in the days before cloud computing when operating at scale was still truly pushing the limits. As a part of a small dot.com company with a real product and revenue stream that became a strong part of one of the early Internet's leading companies, Brad had the opportunity to learn by doing in many, many areas as he and the team around him took responsibility for more and more products thanks to their lean approaches to building solid, high-performing software, including one of the first 911 systems in a consumer VoIP product.
