Leading the design and development of the SPIDER (Seismic Payload for Interplanetary Discovery, Exploration, and Research) for the Moon to Mars: Demonstrator programme. This endeavour is being facilitated by the Australian Space Agency and Department of Industry, financing the demonstration mission on a Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) delivery. The payload is a three-axis passive seismic device that will be used to help characterise surface regolith on the far side of the moon for future human-centred missions.Also leading current and future technical designs of the Geode, a satellite-enabled smart seismometer specially designed to record passive ambient noise for Fleet's mineral exploration service ExoSphere. Finally, I am technically leading the Exploration team which is focused on exploring new technologies and research and development projects for Defense applications.

I am currently leading the development of the Geologic Instrument for detecting important natural resources on the lunar surface and sub-surface. Smart technology has been the focus of the Geologic Instrument, with the LoRaWAN telecommunication protocol to backhaul sensor data via the Fleet satellite network into the cloud. The instruments have currently demonstrated the use of passive seismic and heat flow sensing techniques classically employed by the mining industry. The Seven Sisters Mission is proudly Australia's first lunar exploration mission with the intent of assisting NASA's Artemis Programme to return to the moon.

Lead engineer for the development of a technical payload that will be launched on the team's upcoming high-altitude rocket. Out of the two novel rockets in development, one will be breaking the sound barrier during flight. The payload will demonstrate an attitude and determination control system (ADCS) to detumble a recently ejected satellite. The demonstration will operate in quasi-microgravity during the final flight stage of the rocket. A picosatellite mounted in a gyroscopic rig will have the mechanical capabilities to demonstrate a detumbling control procedure. My role has involved the conceptualisation, development, and management of the technical payload team. After taking a systems engineering approach for the project, the payload is in its mature stages of development. At this stage, much of the electrical and mechanical designs have been finalised. The next stage involves the development and testing of an ADCS using a quaternion-based Kalman filter.

The Conservation Of Artworks Using Optical Analytical Techniques

This research project was enabled by a summer research scholarship from the CSIRO. As a major component of my research, I completed a review paper on various state-of-the-art optical techniques and technologies applied in the field of artwork conservation. This paper is in the process of being published and will aim to be a fundamental resource for artwork conservators and researchers to better understand the application of these techniques on different types of paintings. With this knowledge, I was able to characterise artificially damaged sample paintings using 3-D optical profilometry and photogrammetry. In addition to my research and experiments, I gained strong skills in using Matlab to analyse these microscopy data using machine learning methods. Micro-defects within the paint strata which were not visible to the naked-eye were identified using image processing.
