I am deeply invested in serving as a catalyst for underrepresented populations, partially foster youth and former foster youth, to access higher education and achieve their academic goals. A personal goal of mine is to advocate for and mentor youth as they strive for an increased quality of life through obtainment of an education, career planning and employment. As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) holding education rights, I strived to make education related decisions that would best support my CASA Kiddos likelihood of successful completion of high school. As well as normalize college. As the Special Projects Coordinator for Family and Children Services I coordinated workshops and events that educated current and former foster youth about financial aid, volunteer opportunities and career development. Over the past seven years I have advised the Silicon Valley Children's Fund about gaps in services and on partner programs. I have volunteered at countless events, speaking to youth about the importance of education and the many resources available to aid their success. Currently I focus primarily on one-to-one mentoring, assisting with graduate level college applications, tutoring and editing, academic advisement and scholarship searches and applications. Additionally, I conduct grant research. My current career goal is to further develop my grant writing skills and assist non-profits with obtaining additional funding.
