The Accelerate Fellowship was an intensive hands on and community driven seven-week summer rotational program across Los Angeles, New Orleans and the Rio Grande Valley. Fellows gained skills in diversity, equity and inclusiveness, executive communication, problem solving, consulting and core leadership development. During the summer, Fellows worked with 3 different partner organizations, forging new relationships and helped to solve meaningful issue along side leaders in social and private sectors. Some of this work included serving on the founding team of Excelencia Charter Academy (a TK-8 tuition-free charter school that will serve East Los Angeles students starting in August 2018) and creating a new data allocation system for Youth Run NOLA (a nonprofit in New Orleans that develops leaders and healthy lifestyles through running). I was selected as an inaugural fellow from a national pool of over 500 student leaders (8% acceptance rate). In addition to working with 3 different partner organizations, I also utilized human centered design to generate innovative solutions for a challenge in each of the three cities, and I pitched solutions to local and national experts and community members.
