Ensure safe production of quality steel while building and motivating teams, providing technical training, setting performance goals, improving process and efficiency, making product changes, and leading the operations of rolling and finishing steel.• Plan product changes, update SOP's, manpower, equipment, and maintenance through assessment of stored information/notes on previous delays, previous production runs, and analysis of labor; to determine efficiencies and ensure quality• Ensure that equipment is correctly set up and in working order prior to and during production, in addition to upholding ASTM Specifications for physical structural steel tolerances• Increase efficiency up to 145 (tons per hour) and influence an increase in crew's bonus from under 100% to 200% +• Improve cosmetics, lessen downtime, increase yield, reduce natural gas usage, and decrease overall cost per ton for the steel rolling department• Operate the mill pulpit (holding 200 tons/steel) as well as monitor the furnace where the steel is heated to 2000 degrees, to ensure safety• Monitor new PLC programming, upgrades, and input to match the HMI (Human-Machine-Interface) from 1990, to develop a new control room to regulate the furnace and mill speeds• Was as a technical team leader training crews and shift supervisors on their responsibilities, through effective communication and administration of time sheets, shift reports, production notes, quality issues, safety presentations, implementations, meetings, and reviews• Mentored teammates through PCIP development, connecting stakeholders, and providing instruction manuals for each position • Determined manufacturing bottlenecks, changed the programming per product and increased tons per hour on smaller orders by 50% as well as maximizing efficiency during product changes• Worked as an internal quality lead auditor -ISO 9001 & 14001
