I am Brett Bauer, a first-generation Junior at the University of Maryland, College Park pursuing a dual degree B.S. in Accounting and Information Systems with a Minor in Sustainability. Along this academic path, I've garnered noteworthy accomplishments, including the prestigious NABA-Forvis Merit Scholarship and the recognition of the College Park Scholar Research Citation.In my professional journey, I've acquired valuable expertise through my role as a Global Tax Intern at Abt Associates. In this capacity, I refined my ability to craft income tax estimates, offering essential perspectives for financial planning and forecasting. Demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills, I actively contributed to the submission of property tax filings and conducted thorough reviews of international tax forms 8858, 5471, and 1120s.Stepping into the realm of leadership, I proudly serve as the Director of Outreach for the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) in the vibrant College Park, MD community. Within this role, I architect and manage the chapter's intricate web of mass communication channels, spearhead pioneering research initiatives, and orchestrate compelling communication strategies to enrich the academic journey of fellow students. My analytical prowess comes to the forefront as I delve into membership recruitment, strategically amplifying NABA's influence on campus.Beyond my involvement with NABA, I wear the hat of an ETE Peer Mentor for College Park Scholars Mentors. Mentoring and guiding a dynamic group of 25 students, I not only provide academic support but also foster a sense of belonging.
