Additional value-added projects implemented: at the take of Ausconfec to Omniblend; • Implement MEX a maintenance program adding all the present and new equipment• Compiled a new asset register with all the additional equipment with updated values depreciation.• Implemented a swab testing program for product change overs, washdowns with immediate testing for allergens to ensure food safety was applied before production could restart.• New staff recruitment, inductions, training mentoring and sign offs for additional shift, with new SOPs to match new processes.• Share continuous improvements with staff before making the necessary upgrades or change to processes. • Warehousing rearranged the space to enable better staging for the weeks production in accordance to order requirements, this enabled a smooth and uninterrupted flow. Over the 4 year period, attention to improve relations with the… Show more Responsible for the effective operation of the Yandina Manufacturing site including: purchasing, planning, scheduling, processing co-ordination, budgetary control, staff and industrial relations management, distribution and inventory control throughout the manufacturing process. In co-ordination with the Quality Manager, Engineering Manager and other direct reports this position is responsible for all Operational matters. Over the 4 year period, attention to improve relations with the growers was a priority. Listening to their issues, small growers had a lack of automation, a lack of dams for crop irrigation, poor seed reproduction. They had difficulty in supplying volume and price per kg was always a problem. Set up regular meetings to share requirements and experiences, from the ginger growers perspective, and what was needed by the manufacturer Buderim Ginger. Factory tours were introduced and introductions made with factory staff, growers and farm pickers, bridging the gap. More visits to the growers, when planting, during and at point of harvest was important to develop relations and show support. Scheduling growers at harvest time was introduced, and a biosecurity cleaning system was put in place. Once bins were emptied they were sanitised and segregated, protecting each grower when collecting their bins. This reduced cross contamination risks.Fresh ginger for the factory, produced good quality end product. An increase of ginger grown 800 tonnes in 2014 to 2200 tonnes by 2018. This encouraged more growers to join the supply chain, increasing suppliers from 4 to 11. Each year the Buderim Ginger Factory tendered and secured the tonnage requirements, and the growers supplied. The importing supply of ginger was reduced (Fiji & China), giving the Australian growers more confidence which improve relationships. Ginger sourced from, Eumundi, Mary Valley, Gympie, Yandina, Gatton, through to Bundaberg. Show less
