As a Social Media Intern, I was in charge of covering events via Illinois State University's Snapchat account, managing our Snapchat password and takeovers, and interviewing students, faculty, and staff to find out their opinions on events. I captured a combination of videos and photos for a good variety of content. I had weekly meetings in which we plan the weeks ahead with the rest of the social media team at Illinois State University. I started a project called "Takeover Tuesday" with the account in which different students at the university get to control the account for the day and show what their days are like.

As a Social Media and Marketing Intern, I attended weekly brainstorming meetings with a mix of faculty and other interns. I filmed videos for two different video series, planned out the videos, and distributed them on social media channels.

I initiate face-to-face meetings with those students who complete our online application. I then work closely with them to create their profiles which will be shared with complementary recruiters. In addition, I assist my other two co-founders with social media content. I recently created multiple Geofilters for Snapchat. We are constantly reaching out to job recruiters in an effort to get them to take advantage of our services by offering an alternative and more efficient approach to finding qualified job candidates.We pitch our startup to investors, advisers, and students. As an entrepreneur, I always carry the brand of my business with me.

I worked on many different projects as a Business Operations Intern. I used Zapier to create an automation process to make Quality Assurance tests for our product. I helped our Client Onboarding team rebuild the Onboarding process that a client goes through when they sign up with ReviewTrackers. I worked on special projects for our Customer Success department that would affect our clients. I used Google Analytics 360 Suite to create graphs that showed us how satisfied our customers have been over time.

My focus is on sales. Utilizing multiple mediums, I research a wide array of companies to obtain leads. I have created an extensive database that identifies company name, industry, size, location, and other relevant information.

As a student blogger for Packback, I created content for the Packback blog. My colleagues and I scheduled conference calls every two weeks during which we discussed our past writings and explored future topics. We then created new posts, proofread each other's work, and sent them to our supervisor. Once our posts went live, we shared them on our different social media pages.

I did a little bit of everything at this virtual open office. Besides managing social media on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, I created weekly newsletters that highlighted a featured streamer. I worked collaboratively with another intern to develop an Intern Orientation document for future company interns. We included links to videos, job descriptions, and examples of good and bad work. Moreover, I actually created a video showing interns how to post a social media post using our Hootsuite account. I also curated streams for our website and streamed every week. Finally, I was tasked with finding graphic designers to redesign our logo and was presented with multiple options from which to choose. Watch Me Work is a growing global community for creative experts and learners, and my internship there allowed me the opportunity to grow along with it.

Although I was assigned to the Special Events Department in our office during the week, I also worked tournaments on the weekends. As a tournament staff member, I constantly interacted with coaches, players, and parents, giving me the opportunity to enhance my customer service and diplomacy skills. Since I sold t-shirts, hats, and other tournament gear, I learned to process payments and handle all transactions with tact and accuracy. Many of these tournaments were held out of state which allowed me to travel throughout the Midwest and even to Tennessee and New York City. I was often responsible for driving a company van to the tournament sites where I delivered and then collected our equipment and supplies.My office work included collecting, sorting, and processing tournament registration forms, rosters, payments, and schedules. I also created all of the rosters for the end of the summer All-Star events. I made Excel spreadsheets for each tournament location. Then I sorted hundreds of players by age, team, and position, ensuring that no player was left off an All Star roster. Once completed, I assigned coaches to each of these teams.

I began working in the back of the store handling, monitoring, and stocking inventory. I learned how to put anti-theft devices on all our merchandise and how and when to replenish floor items. Whether it was a full push of everything in the store or just a particular section, I was responsible for replenishing the shelves with items from our inventory. Soon after, I was trained on all POS/cash register procedures. I handled all types of transactions, including returns and payments of house accounts. Also, I was trained on how to work on the floor. I learned the weekly promotions and sales so that I could properly inform customers. Victoria's Secret was a great retail business to work for because it taught me how to sell a product, organize a store, and handle multiple projects during a shift.

Manteno, Illinois

As an assistant groundskeeper for two consecutive summers, I was responsible for maintaining the appearance of all property surrounding the school buildings as well as all athletic fields. In order to do so, I quickly mastered the use of a $15,000 John Deere Zero-Turn Mower and a John Deere tractor loader. I even became a certified forklift operator. I cut grass 2-3 times a week and carefully maintained the football, baseball, and softball fields, in addition to all practice fields. Furthermore, I landscaped several areas in front of building entrances. Finally, I was assigned several painting projects, including scoreboard poles, goal posts, and seats for lunchroom tables. Working for the Manteno School District taught me the value of working hard in all weather conditions and taking pride in the appearance of school property.

As a member of this crew, I strengthened my customer service and team building skills. During sporting and other special events, I had the chance to help patrons to their seats, direct them to different areas as needed, and make sure they were comfortable. Other duties included assembling the basketball court in Redbird Arena, building the gymnastics set for ISU's team, and setting up for various other special events and high school games. After an event was finished, we cleaned the arena so that it would be ready for the next event.
