Police Sergeant
My recent assignment was with the Internal Affairs Unit investigating complaints against police personnel, originating from the public or internal sources. Working closely with the County Prosecutor's Office, that unit ensures public confidence in the daily police services provided to our residents and guests. My prior assignment was with the Traffic Division, handling an incredibly diverse group of responsibilities. We are the primary motor vehicle enforcement unit in the city. Additionally, I handled serious motor vehicle accidents, school crossing assignments, chronic parking and vehicle issues, funeral escorts, traffic studies, parades, and vehicle impact on new construction. This was probably my most unique assignment. I was previously assigned to the Street Crimes Unit. This small division is comprised of intelligent, self-motivated officers. Targeting street-level crimes, we used a combination of department intelligence, community outreach, informants, surveillance, and directed patrol to prevent crime and arrest offenders. Prior to that, I was with a plain-clothes unit in the Patrol division. Our job was to target specific complaint areas and interrupt crimes in progress. We used regular citizen vehicles and we're responsible for identifying and solving persistent criminal activities. I also had the privilege of working in the Community Services division. Working first in a uniformed position, and later in a plain-clothes assignment, we were charged with solving community problems with a variety of responses. I conducted follow-up investigations and prepared cases for presentation to a Grand Jury. I began my career like most cops in the Patrol Division. Working in a radio car, I responded to all matters of public safety concern. I engaged in motor vehicle enforcement, directed patrol, quality of life violations, and crimes in progress.
Legal Intern
I am currently assigned to work with Special Prosecution and Financial Crimes.
Police Officer
Assigned to the Patrol division, I worked in a radio car responding to calls for service. I engaged in preventative patrol and high visibility details at various county properties. During my tenure, I was assigned to several tours with the Auto Theft Task Force. Targeting stolen car rings and car-jackers, the training I received from this highly focused group has proven invaluable in my law enforcement career.
Police Dispatcher
As a police dispatcher, I was charged with taking calls for service, handling 9-1-1 emergency calls, and dispatching police officers. Being a small police department, I worked alone and was given a great deal of responsibility at a young age. I was able to get an up-close view of the life of a police officer and this was instrumental in my career development.
