• Oversight for the construction and maintenance of 253 miles of county highways and 71 bridges with a staff of 31 full time maintenance personnel, nine full time technical staff, and two full time administrative staff• Working with 25 Township Road Commissioners in the preparation and oversight of their annual maintenance/construction program on 1,100 miles of township roadways and 178 bridges• Training, motivating, evaluating and determining salary adjustments for the department• Supervising the Fleet Maintenance Department that performed maintenance and repairs to the entire county fleet of vehicles and equipment with six full time mechanics and one full time manager • Developing, presenting and managing of a $6 to $7 million annual department budget • Representing the county at numerous meetings with local, state and federal elected officials to promote transportation efforts in Sangamon County

As Assistant County Engineer I direct and manage program development and project implementation of all capital improvement programs, including planning, programming, Phase I and Phase II engineering, land acquisition, construction, permitting, finance and budgeting for the County Highway Department.

Coordinate with consultants for the completion of planning, design and programming of county and township road and bridge projects; coordinate with utilities for location/relocation on county rights-of-way; negotiate with property owners for purchase of right-of-way for county and township projects; and, serve on committee for review of subdivisions within the unincorporated areas of Sangamon County and the City of Springfield planning area
