The CDP provides hands-on specialized training to state and local emergency responders in the management and remediation of WMD incidents. Located at the former home of the U.S. Army Chemical School, Fort McClellan, the CDP conducts live chemical agent training for the nation's civilian emergency response community. The training emergency responders receive at the CDP provides a valid method for ensuring high levels of confidence in equipment, procedures, and individual capabilities.

Center For National Response

The Joint Interagency Training and Education Center (JITEC) provides Homeland Security training to Department of Defense (DoD) assets, Government Agencies, and First Responders around the United States. The training provides formal instruction and mentorship in assessing, identifying, and prioritizing Homeland Security measures. JITEC conducts in house training, which is held within West Virginia, and also has a Mobile Training Team (MTT), which conducts training outside the state of West Virginia.

The WMD Civil Support Teams were established to deploy rapidly to assist a local incident commander in determining the nature and extent of an attack or incident; provide expert technical advice on WMD response operations; and help identify and support the arrival of follow-on state and federal military response assets.

When directed, forward-deploy and/or respond to a credible threat of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, or High Yield explosive (CBRNE) incident in order to assist local, state, or federal agencies and Unified Combat Commanders in the conduct of consequence management operations. CBIRF accomplishes this mission by providing capabilities for agent detection and identification; casualty search, rescue, and personnel decontamination; and emergency medical care and stabilization of contaminated personnel.
