Answered signal lights, bells or intercom to determine resident's needs; I took and recorded temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates and food/fluid intake and output. Assist residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair and incontinence care. Assist residents with range-of-motion exercises and movement. Clean, sterilize, store, prepare and issue dressing packs, treatment trays and other supplies. CPR Certification. I ensured efficient direct patient care for adult patients as assigned by licensed nursing staff. Duties included, but was not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, I & O’s, ambulating patients, charting on flow sheets, transportation. I had to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. I had to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirement relative to his/her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s departmental policies and procedures. I also assisted in clerical duties, drawing blood from patients and facilitating the collection of urine specimens, labeling test tubes, completing the patient requisition forms and billing information and centrifuges specimens.
