As the City Administrator, I made sure all city rules were followed fairly and consistently, while also diving into economic growth efforts like the UNI Heartland Economic Development course. I also kept a close eye on finances to make sure everything was in line with state regulations. I managed planning and zoning duties to help the city grow in an organized way, overseeing code enforcement for smooth development.My key accomplishments include:• Initiated success for a new business in downtown Sedgwick after months of stagnation.• Secured KDHE grants for cleanup of abandoned biodiesel plant, dormant since 2016.• Facilitated placement of two new small businesses in downtown by negotiating special lease terms with property owners, aiding community tax relief.

Here, I ensured everyone followed state tax laws and also helped business owners understand what they needed to do, which made a big difference in tax reporting and collection. At the same time, I teamed up with county and city officials to make sure state tax rules were part of getting a business license. Instructed a total of 176 classes of Accounting I & II, Managerial Accounting, and Intro to Business for a community college regional center located in Wamego, KS. Typically taught evenings during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.

Investigated Independent Contractor versus Employer/Employee relationship situations. Reconciled employer-submitted wage reports and made contact with employers in need of assistance with making corrections to reports or to get into compliance with monies due.
