Brian Nicholas is a Pennsylvania native who was led to Long Island, NY where he began to pursue an undergraduate degree in Music Education and Jazz Performance at Five Towns College. It was there where he had the opportunity to study with Tony Romano (performed and recorded with Randy Brecker, Joe Bataan, and Stanley Jordan) and later on Vic Juris (bandleader, as well as a performing/recording artist ranging from duets with John Abercrombie and Russell Malone to the guitarist for Dave Liebman’s group). In 2006, he was able to land 3 nights, with a trio, at the JVC Jazz Festival in New York City, which led to performing with some great musicians such as Chuck Alder, Bill Jarres, Vinnie Loccisano and he eventually found his way into his own trios and quartets in the jazz and rock mediums. After receiving his Bachelor’s in Music Education in 2006 he went on to pursue a Masters in the Arts at Stony Brook University. He became a New York State certified music teacher, grades K-12, and presently works in the Half Hollow Hills School District in Dix Hills, NY.Professional music educator since 2009. Teaching experience includes Elementary/Middle School Orchestra, Elementary/Middle School General Music & Chorus and Elementary Band. Private Instruction experience since 2002: Guitar, Piano, Vocal, & Cello. Has taught all levels and styles, including NYSSMA preparation. Professional working Guitarist since 2001.
