Laboratory Operations Manager
Current-Managed a small operations team and the day-to-day support of laboratory activities while assisting team projects with ongoing operational needs-Ensured all analytical instruments/equipment (flow cytometers, plate readers) were functioning properly and periodically serviced/calibrated; arranged for repair as needed-Coordinated organization and maintenance of lab repositories and inventories (cell line bank, serum, culture reagents, assay kits). Oversaw the performance and commission testing as appropriate (mycoplasma testing)-Developed various budgets for the lab (CapEx, consumables, service contracts) and worked with finance to ensure the lab had the funding needed to operate properly-Point of contact for various facilities and operation issues that arose in the office including BMS admin control. Liaison for company with building management team for issues that arose-Ensured all lab equipment (biosafety cabinet, incubators, HVAC, refrigerators, freezers) were functioning properly and periodically serviced/calibrated; arranged for repairs as needed-Responsible for shipping sensitive and critical materials within and outside the country (dry ice, cryogenic, temperature control, shipments of high value, hazardous material shipments). Worked with various teams in the company to get samples expedited in a timely manner-Led the team in a lab relocation from a 4000 sq ft lab to an 8000 sq ft lab with only two weeks of downtime. Instrumental in the overall lab layout to ensure easier workflow environment for all lab staff-Maintained various certifications (RCRA, MassDOT, IATA, HAZWOPER) that ensured the team was up-to-date and well-informed-Worked with EHS to schedule safety and SOP training for new lab users and yearly retraining for lab users; maintained compliance records reflecting dates of training-Oversaw the lab expansion from 4 to 15 scientists, ensured lab users had been trained on the correct use of the lab equipment
