Assistant Director & Cit Director
CurrentNorth Star Camp is an all-boys sleepaway camp located in Hayward, WI. Every summer, approximately 300 campers come to the shores of Spider Lake to make new friends, learn new skills, grow as individuals and make memories that last a lifetime. Operating since 1945, we have over 70 years of rich camp tradition and this summer will be my 16th summer at North Star (wow, I'm old...).As Assistant Camp Director, I wear many hats around camp. During the off-season, I help recruit, interview and hire seasonal staff members, recruit and talk about camp with prospective campers, manage North Star's social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and manage lots of marketing projects (re-designing our website, revamping our marketing materials). While at camp, I am the CIT Director, providing guidance and support to our first year staff members. I organize special events and programs, run our Friday Night music program and teach waterskiing. If you are looking for a summer role and are passionate about youth development and working with kids, I encourage you to read more on our website at www.northstarcamp.com and apply online at https://bit.ly/NSCHiring. It will be the best summer of your life!

Talent Acquisition Specialist
Showpad’s all-in-one leading SaaS sales enablement platform empowers sales and marketing teams to engage buyers through industry-leading training and coaching software and innovative sales content and engagement solutions. As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, I was responsible for full-cycle recruiting efforts for a variety of roles, including but not limited to Business Development Representatives (BDRs), Customer Success Managers, Technical Support Managers, marketing roles, sales operations, and engineering roles. My proudest accomplishment was taking over the Demand Generation Manager search, which had already been a painstaking search with no results - it had been open 6 months and gone through two recruiters. I took over the search and, through some creative sourcing, hired a top notch marketer to fill the role in under two months. That exemplifies the hard work, dedication, and creativity that I bring to every search.Outside of my roles, I also spearheaded efforts to improve Showpad's recruiting strategy, including revamping scorecards in Greenhouse to better capture interviewers' opinions on candidates, as well as developing interview training presentations to help train every interviewer and hiring manager on competency based behavioral interviewing. We also implemented post-interview debrief sessions with the interview team to ensure a more holistic decision making process for each candidate.Lastly, I headed up the Showpad internship program. I worked with the marketing team to develop collateral to bring to campus career fair events (catchy banners, business cards, flyers, etc.). In 2019, in addition to a large requisition workload of full-time hires, I interviewed and hired for the entire internship program (14 interns in total). I helped organize and run the internship program over the summer, including checking in with the interns as well as scheduling intern events (social mixers, lunch and learns with executives, etc.).
Corporate Recruiter
Yello's talent acquisition software helps enterprise companies humanize the candidate experience by being more engaging and hiring the best talent - faster.I led full-cycle recruiting efforts for all sales (BDR and Enterprise Account Executive), customer success, operations, and marketing roles, including application screening, sourcing, interviewing and making offers. I helped re-vamp Yello's recruiting process, training hiring managers on how to interview for core competencies and implementing a more effective evaluation system.I spearheaded the campus recruiting efforts, working with marketing to develop collateral and giveaways and attending career fairs to hire for entry-level talent.
Recruiter / Head Of Campus Recruiting
Jellyvision is an award-winning technology company whose interactive software talks people through important, complex, and potentially snooze-inducing life decisions - like choosing a healthcare insurance plan, saving for retirement, or navigating a leave of absence - in simple, fun, and engaging ways.As a recruiter, I helped Jellyvision grow from 80 people in 2014 to over 400 in 2018. In our most aggressive hiring year (2016), we hired 130 new employees. I thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, where the focus is finding the best, and only the best, candidates to join the team. I was responsible for full-cycle recruiting for all sales (account executive, BDR, sales manager), marketing, account management (account manager), implementation, production, analyst, and operations roles. In addition to my role as recruiter, I helped spearhead and grow our campus recruiting efforts. I worked closely with our marketing team to develop new career fair materials (banners, flyers, giveaways) which resulted in significant increased traffic at campus events. In addition, I developed close relationships with campus career centers and advisors and organized information sessions and/or resume workshops, which led to a stronger campus presence, and therefore a stronger pipeline of internship and apprenticeship candidates. My proudest moment was starting the Inside Sales Internship, which led to a future pipeline of full-time BDR hires, as well as brought in additional revenue to the company.
Social Media Director
As Social Media Director for Bunk1, I established the social media strategy for Bunk1's social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Bunk1Buzz blog), with the goal of increasing company exposure and customer interaction. Upon arriving at Bunk1, there was no Facebook page and a very minimal Twitter presence. My first big assignment as Social Media Director was to launch Bunk1's Facebook page. Within 14 months of our Facebook launch, we had accumulated over 3,000 Facebook "likes". In that same amount of time, our Twitter followers nearly quadrupled. I was solely responsible for the real-time community management for all of the social media platforms, proactively responding to customer interactions shortly after they occurred. In addition to the traditional social media platforms, I sent out two versions of our company newsletter, "Bunk1 Reveille" each week (one for camp directors, one for our customers) with original and aggregated content. The newsletters had a reach of over 120,000 people and a 16% average click-through rate. Our customers actively looked forward to receiving our newsletters. I generated over $50,000 in new revenue from the newsletter by creating interactive promotions and selling ad space. Bunk1's social media pages can be found at:Twitter - www.twitter.com/bunk1campsFacebook - www.facebook.com/bunk1camps
Assistant Camps Director / Senior Camp Director
My main responsibility as Assistant Camps Director was to create the entire summer camp schedule from scratch. The schedule was used by all 700 campers across 32 groups and our 15 activity specialists. I had to carefully balance what activity spaces where available, as well as make sure each activity was attended the same amount of times by each group throughout the week. This schedule was created multiple times, with changes made in event of rainy days, extreme heat days, or lightning days which would require the campers to be indoors more.I also was heavily involved in the recruitment of new customers to our camp program. I led sales tours and followed up with leads, building strong relationships with customers to contribute to Asphalt Green's reputation in the community and increase enrollment. I attended local camp fairs to promote the summer camp program and recruit new customers. In order to close sales, I made sure to thoroughly address and questions or concerns from our potential customers.
Camps Coordinator / Budget Manager (4-Month Contract)
The 92nd Street Y is a non-profit organization in New York City. I worked in the camp department as a camp program coordinator and budget manager. I collaborated with senior staff members in support of the 92nd Street Y's six summer day camps. Each day, I managed and supervised the camp specialists, providing them program support and using my problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts as they arose. I managed the accounts receivable and payable, working directly with the finance department to ensure we stayed within our budget. I also scheduled weekly special events with outside vendors and performers, making sure all client needs and event logistics were met.
Assistant Camp Director / Staffing Coordinator
I was responsible for interviewing, recruiting and hiring the entire camp staff, activity specialists and support staff each summer. In addition to reviewing applications received on the camp website to determine qualified applicants, I attended campus recruitment fairs at colleges across the country looking for the best candidates who would make great role models for our campers. Once applicants were interviewed, I conducted reference checks and made contract offers to staff members that fit with our camp's culture. When they accepted the job, I kept in contact with them throughout the year to coordinate their arrival at camp during the summer. I was responsible for organizing their travel to and from camp.In addition to hiring the entire staff, I also attended national camp fairs and regional home visits to recruit new customers. I helped manage the office by executing our print campaign and company mailings. We had a bi-monthly newsletter that was sent to all of our families that I created original content for and designed each month. I created a social media campaign via our newly formed Facebook and Twitter profiles to communicate with customers and promote our camp's brand. Lastly, I initiated a website re-design, updating program descriptions and page layouts to better market the camp.
Certified Sales Executive
The Game Face Academy is a comprehensive sales training program started by Rob Cornilles in Portland, Oregon. Rob trained me in 40 classroom hours in the Game Face Sales Training Camp, teaching me sales skills that would help me succeed in sales. After a week-long training camp, our group conducted live sales calls for international sports accounts, exhibiting our newly learned lead generation, sales, and customer service skills. Out of 30 people in the program, I was proud to be the first person to sell a season ticket package for the NFL team we were representing.
Summer Camp Counselor
North Star Camp for Boys is an all boys overnight camp in Hayward, Wisconsin. I spent 13 summers there, the last 7 as a camp counselor. On a daily basis, I used my interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts whenever problems arose. I became confident in my ability to manage people and as each summer progressed, I asked to take on more responsibilities. These included running the water-ski program, managing and ordering inventory and teaching children how to water-ski. Other responsibilities included creating, planning, and executing all-camp special events with a team of 2-4 people. From 2004 to 2007, I was the Music Director where I coordinated the camp music program, choosing songs and arranging the music for our weekly campfires. Through my leadership, the music program became extremely popular, with most of the 175 campers participating in it each week.
Vice President Of Communications, Alumni Chair
The American Marketing Association is the largest marketing organization at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I joined my junior year to become more involved in the marketing community on campus. As a Junior, I was elected to be the Alumni Chair. I connected with alums of the Business School to create a contact book to facilitate student-alumni networking. I also invited alums to come speak and provide advice to the members of the organization. The following year, I was voted by members to be on the Executive Board, as the Vice-President of Communications. While in this role, I implemented a mass e-mail distribution system to promote our organization's events and speakers. I also organized fundraising events and on-campus recruiting efforts, which generated over $5,000 in funds for the organization and charities.
