Current• Fully accountable for the financial stewardship of the North American subsidiary of a French software company. With team of seven direct reports, ensure fiscal health across budget creation and compliance, financial reporting, accounting, and insurance/risk management.• Lead and fulfill US legal function. Review, negotiate, and resolve multimillion-dollar contractual terms with customers, who are typically Fortune 1000 organizations. • Shared management of IT responsibilities. • Work with outside accountants on sales and income tax reporting in more than 25 jurisdictions (local, state, federal, and Canadian filings). • Support annual audit process by providing explanations concerning financial performance, projections, and controls.• Champion the annual budget process across six business units. Produce and deliver to the parent CFO and CEO operating and capital budgets encompassing payroll, marketing, hardware, software, and travel. • Extensively report on financial performance, providing commentary to parent company. • Develop cash flow forecasts with four-month projections. Recommend and implement strategies to mitigate cash issues, inclusive of inter-company borrowing and alternative financing to deliver liquidity, including a new factoring relationship. Regarding the latter, negotiated with a factor company for an acceptable interest rate. • Improve and streamline financial/accounting processes, tools, and controls. Initiated the purchase, adoption, and implementation of Concur solution for expense reporting and Netsuite for accounting. • Oversee HR functions. • Initiated and implemented a menu of health plan options to support the needs of a diverse staff, including employees in multiple states. Year over year, successfully kept annual costs relatively level for the company as well as for employees (cost-sharing at ~25%). • Captured $300K in savings through annual review and negotiation of real estate leases.
