About Brian Sites

I specialize in law and technology, innovation, data analysis, and bar preparation. I love finding new ways to solve problems. In my research, I focus on (1) areas where law and technology intersect, and (2) the empirical study of learning. In law and technology, I have focused on two areas where those fields often collide: constitutional criminal procedure (such as search and seizure law and the growing trial by machine movement) and intellectual property (especially copyright). I am also passionate about criminal law, constitutional law, torts, evidence, and other subjects. In the empirical study of learning, I focus on topics such as optimal learning strategies, the impact of curriculum choices on post-graduation knowledge and learning (e.g., bar preparation and performance), spaced retrieval as applied in the study of law, and indicators that help students and their mentors predict outcomes and potential obstacles to success. In my bar preparation work, I have advised every major bar company and have partnered with companies and students on nearly every bar exam in the country (especially Florida, Georgia, and the UBE). I provide consulting services to bar companies (program design, material drafting, project supervision, etc.) and law schools, and I have also worked in nearly every type of bar-related job—from private tutoring to essay/MPT grading and beyond. In my private tutoring, clients have included U.S. Congress members, high-level corporate/state employees, and many more. I have a history of success. In addition to the various bar programs I have advised thriving and my tutoring clients routinely passing the bar exam, in my time as an Assistant Dean of Bar Preparation I led the reversal of a 3-year decline in Florida bar passage results. In doing so, I helped students achieve the highest Florida Board of Bar Examiner's passage rate in a 6-year (11 exams) span. In my work advising LLM/JD students, I led the design and teaching of courses that dramatically improved exam performance. In my broader background, I've taught thousands of students, clerked at state and federal appellate courts, volunteered hundreds of hours to community efforts, authored several legal publications, won national writing and advocacy championships, founded and chaired civic groups, and managed a wide spectrum of programs. If I can help, let me know.
