About Brian Thomas

In my role as Associate Provost at SVSU, I've been responsible for guiding several key offices, committees, and programs. This includes the Cardinal Student Success Center, the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Office of International Programs, the Study Abroad Office, and Undergraduate Research Programs. One of the initiatives I'm particularly involved in is the Pathways for Rural Student Success program, which aims to bridge educational opportunities for rural communities. Additionally, I serve as the chair of the Curriculum and Academic Policies Committee and as chair of the Student Success Council. I also play an active role in SVSU's accreditation process with the Higher Learning Commission, serving as the Accreditation Liaison Officer for the Higher Learning Commission and recently led SVSU's successful efforts to obtain our 10-year reaccreditation. I also coordinate Program Assessment for all Office of Academic and Student Affairs units. An advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, I collaborate with various teams to ensure an inclusive campus culture. My diverse experiences have deepened my understanding of the academic landscape, and I remain committed to uplifting and serving our institution's community.
