For as long as I can remember, I always knew I wanted to help people.My mother noticed my caring and nurturing spirit, even in my young childhood. She’s always quick to remind me of how I would carry pocketfuls of ladybugs and butterflies home with the intent to raise them; and also how I would tote my kittens with me wherever I found myself. That desire to help, heal, and nurture has followed me my whole life. Seeing the difference I can make in people’s lives is what has driven me the most. This is why I am pursuing a career in medicine.During college, I had the opportunity to work with my local aging and disabled community, solidifying my desire to continue helping others. I am passionate about my clients and the relationships I have built with them as I helped them with their everyday tasks. In the end, I believe I gained much more from my clients than they have from me. I learned how to connect with people on a personal level, build meaningful relationships, time management, and much more!As a minority raised in a rural town, I have noticed the growing health disparities in my community. I have also taken note of the lack of representation in the medical field, and have made it my duty to close these gaps.
