Over 20 years of experience working at the nexus of research, policy, education and activism. Some of the things I've done: produced videos, led teacher training, curated a major exhibition, wrote a book, edited two volumes, managed outreach for major policy reports, hosted a podcast series, raised funds from private and foundation donors, taught in a graduate school, and taught in a prison. Most of my career has focused on issues related to civilian protection and advancing human rights.As a researcher, I have written about history, international relations, politics, theory and law related to civilian protection in conflict, post-conflict, and peacetime settings. But I am also skilled at translating research into a language that is accessible to broad audiences, including the general public, policymakers, journalists, and interdisciplinary research audiences. On my own research projects, I have provided the intellectual leadership. On projects that I have managed, including a number of complex, multi-year, international projects, I provided team leadership on everything from conceptualization to grant-writing, grant reporting, hiring contractors, setting goals and trouble-shooting hurdles, setting deadlines and developing outreach strategies.
