As a game Master at Escape 101, I oriented players (customers) to the company's policies and set the scene for their game, providing a background story to provide them with an immersive experience. During each group's hour of gameplay, I watched and listened to what they did from our control room, paying attention to which puzzles they were working on and what difficulties they had. This attention to detail allowed me to provide them with the appropriate clue to aid them in progressing through the game. After each session I "reset" the room, putting everything back in place for the next group to play the puzzle. I was responsible for memorizing the puzzles and running games in all three of the company's escape rooms. I enjoyed the creativity that this job allowed me and would have stayed there longer if the pandemic had not forced us to shut down and had I not made the decisions to continue my educational career.

As a sales associate and key holder, my responsibilities included helping homeowners with do-it-yourself painting projects and working with contractors to fulfill larger orders. I kept the retail space stocked and neat, mixed paint colors to order, accepted and processed new inventory, made large-order deliveries as needed, set up promotional signs and displays, established new credit accounts for contractors. I made and logged phone calls to credit account-holders to inquire about their needs for current jobs, remind them to make payments, or inform them about upcoming sales. As a key holder I was responsible for opening or closing the store, making bank runs, and occasionally adding to restock orders. This job was very physically demanding, requiring regular lifting of 5-gallon paint buckets, weighing up to 60 pounds each.

As a sales associate and key holder I helped customers locate merchandise within the store, answered their questions, made recommendations, used POS to process purchases, promoted the store credit card and rewards program, and helped people make online orders when the store did not have an item in stock. I kept the store in order, returning merchandise to the floor after it had been tried on, folding and hanging (and re-folding and re-hanging) clothes, accepted and processed deliveries of new merchandise, and taking part in store set (rearranging displays and mannequins) outside of business hours. When I was hired the store was not yet open, so I helped get the store ready for the grand opening. I started as a sales associate but was promoted to key holder within four months, giving me the added responsibilities of opening or closing the store, calling rewards members to remind them of available benefits, acting as shift manager when the store manager was not present, processing returns, minimizing loss, making bank-runs, and checking, flagging and occasionally responding to emails from the corporate team.
