This event played a pivotal role in raising awareness and disseminating crucial education on the subject.I conducted perceptive interviews with LGBTQ+ resource centers at various colleges, conducting comprehensive evaluations of tobacco usage, available resources, and specific needs. As a Research Assistant, I undertook the following impactful tasks:I organized and facilitated a focus group comprising 8 LGBTQ+ students, creating a platform for them to share their unique experiences and perspectives. This initiative enabled the acquisition of profound insights that proved invaluable for enhancing stakeholder understanding.Conducting qualitative data analysis, I unveiled 7 pivotal themes that resonated deeply with the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ students on campus. These themes not only illuminated their stories but also provided a comprehensive understanding of their unique challenges and aspirations.In parallel, I used quantitative data to craft 9 insightful data visualizations. This approach allowed us to gain a nuanced understanding of their perspectives, contributing to our broader research objectives.In support of the implementation of a Geographic Information System (GIS) map showcasing mentorship opportunities on campus, I collected and organized data. This effort culminated in the creation of a comprehensive spreadsheet that formed the backbone of the GIS map, enabling students to easily access and explore mentorship avenues.My role as a Research Assistant was marked by a commitment to thoroughness and an unwavering dedication to amplifying marginalized voices. Through the thoughtful execution of focus groups, data analysis, and interviews, I played a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity and understanding within the campus community.
