12 years ago, I began working in a field I knew nothing about. Today, I am considered one of the most knowledgeable and qualified subject matter experts within my peers. My ability to quickly latch on to a subject and soak in all there is to know has driven my success to go from “student” to “instructor”, and promoted me quickly through several ranks and departments. And while I was always eager to serve California taxpayers at the Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), I also came to realize my enthusiasm for sharing my knowledge on a bigger forum through instructor-led trainings. As a qualified sales and use tax compliance instructor, I have successfully designed, implemented, and facilitated impactful training initiatives for California State tax and compliance programs as well as on-boarding of new employees. By analyzing state-mandated, as well as non-mandated, training requirements and employing innovative instructional strategies, I create engaging and interactive sessions that foster professional growth and excellence. Through my training programs, I have received positive feedback from participants, reporting improved productivity skills, enhanced performance outcomes, and increased job satisfaction. With a desire to broaden my learning mindset, I completed my higher education in 2018 at CSU, Sacramento, while working full-time at CDTFA (and raising a small human as a single-parent ). I earned my degree in Strategical Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. My personal and professional experiences pushed me into these specific areas of study which are greatly impacted by psychological and sociological factors. Between my work and educational background, I firmly believe in the values of a people-centric workplace, and how impactful the concept of work-life balance is on today’s workforce. Family dynamics have changed, technology has evolved, but it is my unwavering opinion that people will infinitely be the number one asset to any company/business/private/public sector entity; and, thus drives my passion to promote a people-centric environment among any and all workplaces through the power of instruction and supporting employee knowledge and growth.
