As the only data scientist, I was responsible for data analytics for decision support. I was primarily tasked with analytics related to the marketing department as well as business related decision support. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, I served both as a data/reporting resource as well as the analytics/modeling resource. In this role I developed acquisition and conversion models, third party data acquisition, firmographic profiling, data-driven call campaign selection and loading, geographic, firmographic, KPI reporting, as well as ad hoc reports in support of other departments.

In this role I was primarily tasked with the development, redevelopment, and implementation of many of the company's analytic models including behavioral health risk, readmission likelihood, outpatient service utilization, case mix adjustment, provider profiling and other modeling objectives. In addition, I worked with other departments to develop and implement programs that were based on some of these model results.

In my long tenure with Ruf Strategic Solutions, I reported directly to the Chief Operations Officer and was responsible for the development and redevelopment of our commercially available analytic products as well as custom analytic solutions and modeling on behalf of our clients across a wide range of industries. The commercially available analytics products included a nationwide consumer clustering system as well as lifestyle and psychographic targets built upon that foundation. The modeling solutions I developed were focused on response models, revenue models, lifetime value analysis and market segmentation, as well as association/sequencing analysis.

I was employed in the Program Research and Development Branch of the Agriculture Census Division. I worked primarily on survey and questionnaire design as well as coverage evaluation and reliability analysis. I was also assigned on a temporary basis to a research team analyzing the accuracy and fiscal feasibility of an early form of computer assisted manual data entry of open text fields on census forms that resulted in a paper I co-authored which was presented at the annual meeting of the American Statistical Association and published in the subsequent proceedings (“Results From a Feasibility Test of an Alternative Automated Data Capture Methodology During the 1992 Census of Agriculture” Proceedings of the Survey Research Methods Section, ASA (1994)).
