BDC was known for timeless design and fine craftsmanship, creating projects with intrinsic value and enduring quality for residential remodeling clients in the Milwaukee area and coast-to-coast from 1978-2012. At times we designed projects we did not build, but rarely built something we had not designed. In all cases, regardless of budget, we strove to provide functional, beautiful design solutions that were a good value to our clients.A new direction was planned for BDC in late 2006 to develop small, sustainable, contemporary homes, or multi-unit housing, and live-work units built on urban in-fill lots on speculation beginning in 2008 after my term as President of the MBA. The timing for that plan proved to be in conflict with the state of the economy and the recession which impacted new construction in earnest from the beginning of 2008 through 2012. I hope to return to this idea, in some aspect, soon in Northwest Florida (NWF).From Nov 2012 to Oct 2018 I served contractors, designers, and home and business owners providing plan reviews and permitting services for the City of Milwaukee. The exceptional customer service practices which I successfully implemented for BDC Building Design & Construction proved to be effective and appreciated in my roles as Construction Inspector and Plan Examiner at the City.BDC provided cost effective and finely crafted design solutions by carefully listening, and thoughtfully executing our clients' desired results in a efficient manner within the prescribed schedule. Increasingly important considerations included resource conservation, sustainable building practices, utilizing the latest materials and technologies, and understanding the science of quality construction practices, sourcing local vendors and manufacturers where possible, and making small or existing spaces function more effectively. These principles were also effectively communicated in the process of timely plan reviews and issuing complete, detailed approval conditions for building permits at the City of Milwaukee.
