As LM Restaurant's Construction Manager and Owner's Representative, BK managed designers, contractors and vendors from project inception until the certificate of occupancy. Responsibilty included acquiring permits, and receiving approvals from Federal, State, County and local agencies. The Carolina Ale House brand expanded into Texas, Tennessee, and Virginia during this time, with multiple Florida projects also in design. BK managed over (20) significant capital improvement and construction projects. (8) new restaurants were constructed and opened, and (2) more were nearing completion at the end of 2015. In his role as Construction Manager, BK procured and coordinated the installation of the following owner furnished items: kitchen equipment, walk-in coolers and freezers, draft beer systems, kitchen exhaust systems, kitchen fire suppression system, security system, audio visual and sound systems, bar construction, signage, interior decor and furniture.BK also served as the general contractor on Taverna Agora in Raleigh, University Chrysler conversion to Carolina Ale House in Chapel Hill, and the O'Charleys conversion to Carolina Ale House, in Winston Salem at Hanes Mall, All included the adaptive reuse of existing structures, and involved coordination with (3) different design teams.

Led the RBC Plaza project team from permitting through substantial completion on Highwoods Properties 32 story, 750,000sf mixed use downtown high-rise tower.Achieved building occupancy in less than 23 months from project start date.Collaborated with the Senior Project Manager, Project Managers and General Superintendent overcoming challenges that threatened schedule, budget, or the client relationship.Interfaced closely with City, State and Federal officials due to the many logistical and permitting challenges. Acted as liason with Atlanta home office.Actively recruited and assembled the project management staff.Responsible for the successful negotiation and award of three tenant buildout agreements for the RBC Bank U.S. Headquarters, ground floor RBC Branch Bank, and the law firm of Poyner & Spruill.Managed the bid packaging and procurement process associated with 4 clients, 3 architects and over 110 subcontract agreements.

Maintained active operations role on UVA Special Collections Library, Norview High School, Craven Regional Medical Center, ECU College Hill Dormitory and FIU Frost Art Museum.Led preconstruction effort on (5) Duke Healthcare projects.

North Carolina And South Florida

Responsible for onsite project management of multiple commercial and educational assignments.Moved into the educational group in South Florida managing projects at (3) Community Colleges, (5) High Schools and (2) Universities.Managed Miami Dade Community College (MDCC) Continuing Works Program which included over 140 projects on (7) different community college campuses.Relocated to North Carolina, initiating Centex Higher Education presence in the Triangle. Maintained role as Senior Project Manager on the 1208 bed NCSU Wolf Village dormitory, including preconstruction services and onsite construction management.Performed and conducted (10) part HUB Training session in conjunction with North Carolina State University,providing course content and instructors. Later became a member of the NCSU HUB Advisory committee, due to the results associated with helping small business.
