Hi! My name is Bruce Ritter and I am an artist, NAR-certified rocket builder, and aspiring astronomer.I love the earth and stars, and I hope to make a career in astronomy and STEM education. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy at the University of Washington. I gained skills in education while volunteering at Kimball Elementary and Montlake Elementary schools in Seattle, WA. I grew my skills as an educator working as a tour guide at the Seattle Museum of Flight. My experience there also taught me about curating museum exhibits and customer service. As an assistant teacher with LASER Childcare, I developed extensive childcare and classroom management skills as well. I love learning new skills and have learned to manage my time and responsibilities excellently.I am currently a bike salesman and technician at Gregg's Cycles in Seattle, WA where I am developing my sales management and bicycle engineering skills. I am also a current member of the North Seattle Rocketry Club: dedicated to spreading knowledge about civilian rocketry. I received the 2023 Washington Space Grant Scholarship for my work on a scientific payload as part of the NSC Rocket Club in collaboration with Amur State University. Working on this and other projects, I have developed a list of skills that include CAD design drafting, soldering, and coding. My other interests include drawing, playing guitar, learning new languages, and basketball. I love to experiment with new hobbies and learn as much as possible.I am currently seeking internship and employment opportunities where I can grow and develop as an aerospace researcher, engineer, and/or educator. I hope to work for team-driven organizations invested in the future of space travel and technology.

Alumnus Of Western Aerospace Scholars ProgramBoeing Academy For Stem Learning Nov 2019 - Jun 2020Seattle, Washington, United StatesWestern Aerospace Scholars (WAS) is a rigorous and competitive educational program that uses human space exploration as the mechanism to inspire and encourage participants to consider educational and career pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The WAS program is divided into two components: a five-month online distance learning curriculum (developed in partnership with NASA and the University of Washington) and a six-day summer residency experience. In 2020, the summer residency was transformed into a virtual experience in which qualified students were assigned the task of collaboratively designing a future human mission to Mars. I was one of 80 scholars in the state of Washington who qualified to participate in the WAS virtual Summer Experience. I worked as a member of the Living There team and was responsible for designing habitat systems and financing as part of my team’s element of the first human mission to Mars. I was also my team's representative on the Space Ethics Committee, drafting a code of ethics to guide the entire mission's parameters, goals, and safety procedures.
