Two successful charter seasons followed by a 12 month interior and exterior refit, then another 2 charter seasons & warranty period. The refit included monitoring all safety onboard and with the yard, liaising with HSE and monitoring all PTW’s. Liaising with forman, project managers and contractors to make sure all projects were completed successfully.

Usa, Mediterranean.

I joined Azteca for a crossing. The boat went up for sale during the voyage, preparation for Monaco Boat show, preparation for surveys and the sale of the vessel.

Temporary Second Officer with Chief Officer responsibilities as the yacht was operating without a permanent Chief Officer. The boat was sold in November and I stayed on and did the crossing with the new Captain and Chief Officer to deliver the boat to the USA.

Caribbean, Brazil, Netherlands, France, Italy

Pink Shadow was purchased by the owner after the Fort Lauderdale boat show as a bare hull, it then had an extensive refit to get it ready for the owner’s use. She is a self-managed vessel and part of a fleet. I joined in Antigua to assist on the passage down to Rio de Janeiro. Brazil. I rejoined the vessel in the Netherlands where it was undergoing warranty work and modifications. She is a new build therefore all systems and procedures had to be set up and organised ie, muster lists, General Arrangements, tech spaces and inventory's, LSA, FFE etc. Once in the Mediterranean I assisted with a 4 week boss trip.

Turkey, Greece, France, Italy

Space operates with 9 crew and a chase boat team (Captain and deckhand) that forms part of the deck team when we are operating in port or yard mode. She is managed by Burgess under Mini ISM and I was responsible for all vessel and crew certificates and documentation for compliance. My duties included but were not limited to; watch keeping, passage planning, chart and publication updates, maintaining bridge equipment, accounts, working with agents for customs and immigration procedures, crew logistics and welfare, overseeing general upkeep and maintenance of the vessel. I also looked after the tenders (53ft Maxi dolphin 6m Nautica). The vessel is voluntary compliant and I was in charge of making sure all required safety drills and LSA/ISM procedures were implemented. I was also the medical officer onboard and took care of all Medaire and crew insurance claims.

Bahamas, Spain.

Temporary position as a watch keeper on an Atlantic crossing from the Bahamas to Palma, Mallorca. The boat is part of the Pink Shadow Fleet and I worked with the same Captain on both yachts.

Usa, Mexico, Caribbean, Baltic, Uk, Germany, Mediterranean.

Duties included overseeing 4 deckhands, I was in charge of all stock inventories, job lists, toys including electric bicycles, Segway scooters, golf equipment, jet skis, tenders, dive equipment, towables and inflatable toys. As the vessel operated without a Second Officer for a prolonged period, I was responsible for ISM/LSA/FFE checks on board. Tender work includes rewiring, troubleshooting, installation of solar panels and hydro generator, repainting of the decks, gel coat repairs, spray painting and leading all towing operations of a 21 ft Castoldi Jet, 40ft Intrepid and 43ft Midnight Express. I started as Deckhand and was promoted to Bosun after a year.

South Africa, St Helena, Ascension, Brazil.

Skippered the safe delivery of vessel and owner from Cape Town, South Africa to Brazil via Saint Helena and Ascension Island. This included solar panels, AIS instillation and significant maintenance at Saint Helena including the auto pilot system and a pump for the heads.

Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Due to my good results on the course and passion for sailing, I was offered an instructor and Bosun position. Successfully instructed several yachting courses. This required me to be at sea continuously, sailing 24/7 off the west coast of South Africa, managing and teaching students while ensuring their safety and the safety of the yachts. Also started a dinghy sailing training program for the school.

Learned all aspects of boat manufacture and repair including mould building/preparation, laminating, machining and using composite materials. Prepared and built all parts of the boats including fitting out the hull and rigging spars. As Winder Boats is a relatively small company, I managed and delivered the end to end production of a dinghy to a monitored timeline. Winder Boats is a leading boat builder in the UK. They build world class racing dinghies including solos, mirrors, fireballs, GP14 and merlin rockets.
