As Operational Finance Officer, I assist the Chief Financial Officer in all areas of management and administration of the Finance Division; assists in planning, organizing and directing the development of methods and operations to improve effectiveness and efficiency within the agency.

The Finance Information Systems Unit is responsible for providing information technology services for Finance and fiscal information for the Agency as a whole. This includes the development and support of claims processing, accounting, budget, revenue tracking, cost allocating, interfaces with CORE, document imaging, and time/leave accounting. In addition, this unit supports information technology needs associated with purchasing, consumable supply inventory, statewide printing of authorizations and vouchers, fixed asset management and construction tracking. The Finance Information Systems Unit manages user security, administration, technical support, and operations of the AS400 system. The unit also provides a help desk and desktop support to users statewide.Other duties include evaluation of hardware and software, IT audit compliance, disaster recovery, and policy. Serve as a member of the OKDHS Governance Board which approves, prioritizes, and resources IT related projects.

Managed and coordinated programmers and supervisors that developed and maintained all of the department’s applications. These application groups include, but are not limited to, Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, Offender Management System, and the Pardon and Parole Docket System. Interacted with customers of our systems to determine their needs, helped identify solutions, and coordinated staff and contract employees to complete the projects. Coordinated with other state agencies and executive offices as needed to provide information and facilitate cooperation and understanding. Coordinated and plan vendor installation of software and their activities.Acted as the Administrator when designated. Managed/implemented the web deployed Offender Management System, Oklahoma Sex Offender Registration system, and Oklahoma Offender Lookup projects. Organized and conducted software presentations and training to DOC staff and other law enforcement agencies statewide.

Supervised six programmers working on the department’s mission critical offender applications. These applications are utilized at all of the institutions, probation and parole districts, community corrections centers, pardon and parole board, Governor’s office, and over 400 statewide law enforcement entities. Met with users to determine their system needs and coordinate my staff to complete the projects. Attended upper management meetings and make presentations to executive staff.
