Graduated with an AAS in 1984. Hired as a Microwave lab equipment Field Service Technician from 1984 to 1986 before joining the US Navy. Entered training for the Submarine fleet as a Navigation Electronics Technician. Completed training in 1988 and assigned to the USS Daniel Boone ballistic missile submarine as a Third Class Electronics Technician. Trained personnel on electronics troubleshooting, navigation of submarines and equipment operations on two submarines. Qualified in Submarine Warfare, Radar Operator, and Electronic Countermeasures. Transferred to the USS Stonewall Jackson ballistic missile submarine in 1991 where I advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. Qualified as a Navigation Division Watch Supervisor underway, and Ballast Contol Operator. Recruited personnel in North Carolina for the US Navy from 1993 to 1996. Received a Navy Achievement for my recruiting achievements. Advanced to First Class Petty Officer 1996 and transferred to the USS Tunny fast-attack submarine. Trained as a watch navigator. Division Training Petty Officer. Conducted training on subjects related to the Navy's rate consolidation of Navigation Electronics, Radio, and Interior Communications onboard submarines. Qualified as a watch Ballast Control Operator and watch Diving Officer ( a watch normally required for Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and above). Navigated the USS Tunny to Peugeot Sound Naval Shipyard for decommissioning. Transferred to the USS Greeneville Navigation Division. Qualified in-port duty Section Leader. Transferred to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as the NAVSEA Shipyard Submarine Training Coordinator. Revised and updated training for submarine commands that were drydocking in Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Each submarine crew is required to receive specific training under guidelines set forth by Naval Sea Training Command. At the onset of taking over the training numerous submarine crews were behind schedule to receive training causing a delay in drydocking.
