Patent Agent - Intellectual Property Protection
I prepare and prosecute US and foreign patent applications. I prepared and filed more than 100 U.S. patent applications. I analyze invention disclosures from inventors to determine if sufficient information is available to support a claim to an invention. I conduct or supervise literature and patent database searches to determine whether potential prior art exists and assess the novelty and non-obviousness of the proposed invention. I work closely with inventors to obtain information as needed to prepare and prosecute patent applications. I deal with any objections raised by patent offices throughout the world. I write and file any necessary documents arising during patent prosecution. More than 80 of the patent applications that I have written have issued as U.S. patents and more are pending. I currently provide patent support for coal and liquids gasification, catalytic steam-hydrocarbon reforming, air separation, and hydrogen fueling. Formerly supported glass/combustion and ion transport membranes.I have experience with appeal briefs and oral hearings before the USPTO appeal board. I have experience preparing and prosecuting patents governed by U.S. government contracts. I work closely with the technology groups to evaluate competitor patents. I search the prior art and provide detailed analysis used in legal opinions. I advise on the validity of patents. I have participated in EPO opposition hearings as legal representative and as an inventor.
