I have an extensive collection of "T-shirts" from my many corporate, government, NGO, school, and university involvements.My involvement in education began in 1965 - my first year at university. We taught as volunteers at a night school, which was classified as illegal by the Apartheid government. Our students wrote UK A levels.I have taught part-time or full-time ever since. So, this year marks my 59th year of educational involvement. My training focus now is through our company, Engage SA, and on behalf of government and private training providers, I am contracted to.At Engage, my prime focus is our Engage Learning Employability Enhancement Programme (ELEEP). This programme augments graduate skills with those most in demand in today's rapidly evolving workplace. Strategy work is a second string to my bow. It draws on the experience I have gained in my extended working career. My role model is Peter Drucker, who was still consulting & writing shortly before his death at 94.Since 2020, I have undertaken multiple projects - covered by non-disclosure agreements - for leading government departments and agencies in the Middle East. These projects focus intensely on excellence. A firm believer in Appreciative Inquiry: find out what works and work to get more of it. Also, have a strong belief that commitment is only secured through involvement.My experience spans academia, business, government, the not-for-profit sector, politics, & small business. So, my T-shirts span the A to Z of working life. Activist, Business broker, Coach, Development expert (local & small business), Estate agent, Facilitator through to Writer, Xylophone player (just kidding), Yacht hand (for my dad), & (isi)Zulu history enthusiast.I have worked with CEOs (a number), founders of international businesses (3), professors (plenty), rogues (1 or 2), & Vice-Chancellors (3). I have met archbishops (several), bishops (ditto), a king, several presidents (good & bad), political leaders of all persuasions, & princes. This experience has given me valuable insights into leadership, employee engagement, & strategy – both failed strategies and ones that work.The eldest of three sons who grew up on sugar mills. My dad was a fitter & turner, and my mom was a secretary.My dad was an archetypal action man and was of English stock. My mom, who had a fierce intellect, was of partly Afrikaans stock. Their partnership lasted for over 70 years.I am left bereft by the death of my English life partner of 45 years – Betty - in 2019.Looking to add value in a dramatically changed world. Let's talk.
