Beacon models is a startup between myself and Will Jayne whom I met at IPMS Telford in 2019.Our first products will be set of Battle of Britain aircraft kits in 1/144 scale. First kits to be released are a Spitfire Mk1a and Messerschmitt BF109.

Wingnut Wings is a plastic scale model kit designer and manufacturer founded by Sir Peter Jackson, specialising in aircraft from the First World War. Wingnut Wings quickly became the leader in it's field. Take a look at : www.wingnutwings.com.Achievements at Wingnut - Part of small team that took a start up company from it's beginnings through to being the leader in it's field - Focused modelling process to utilise a single software package (instead of 3 disparate packages), speeding up the design process markedly, and reducing rework - Demonstrated that software should not limit design, allowing all parts of the plane to be modelled accurately and authentically, and pushed the software to it's limits with regards to complex organic surface modelling - Wrote best practice guide for modelling to help team have unified and streamlined approach - Specified high end CAD workstations for designers, and presented a spreadsheet of comparison data to persuade management to purchase these workstations. The new machines sped up projects, and significantly reduced rework due to less software crashes. - Negotiated reduction of licenses and subscription support to save company $20k+ per annum - Provided software and systems support for the team to avoid using helpdesk where possible - Helped setup and run stand at major trade show (Telford UK IPMS show 2019) with sales of $40k+ overResponsibilities at Wingnut - Research based on existing plans and historic photographs of planes - Solidworks 3d modelling of all components in completed plane kit and design of assembly process of kit - Advanced surfacing of organic forms - Design for plastic injection moulding – drafts, undercut detection, removing sink - Solidworks Training, support, troubleshooting, installations and maintenance - Windows systems support for colleagues

Bernstein Research developed and prototyped an advanced toileting system. The project involved fluid mechanics, lifting mechanisms and electronic control systems, along with industrial and product design.Achievements at Bernstein - Helped design and produce a working automated toileting system as a member of a small team - Designed automated hand washing system, and led the teams 3d cad output - Sourced professional filming company for promotional presentation, and helped to plan and direct the filming - Created high quality presentations of the system for promotional materialResponsibilities at Bernstein - Product and industrial design of toileting system - Component sourcing and prototype supplier liaison - Proof of principle rig design - Engineering design of lifting mechanism - Fluid flow control using solenoids - Development of control software in conjunction with electronics company - Solidworks modelling of internal components and external form - Solidworks installation, license and database management - Writing of technical documents to support the prototype product

PDD is one of Europe’s leading Product Design and Innovation consultancies, with a global client base and experience in medical, consumer, industrial, rugged, electronic and telecoms products. Achievements at PDD - IF design award for Belron ‘Ezi-Cut’ windscreen removal tool. Face to Interface was a small training company – training graphic design software and desktop publishing systems, mainly for the print and pre-press industry.Achievements at FTI - Employed initially to do office and admin tasks, but quickly progressed to be given more responsibilities including training clients and designing websites.Responsibilities at FTI - General office tasks, client enquiries and bookings, scheduling training, database management - Telephone helpline support for Mac and PC, and onsite support - Running training courses in QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and web design
