* Developed software to configure data acquisition hardware for large experiments. This software is in use at numerous Department of Energy sites. Typical labs would use this software to configure dozens of state-of-the-art digitizers.* Developed a custom Windows network service to provide remote access to digitizers that did not have existing network configuration capabilities. This service allows laboratories to centrally control experimental setup and data recovery.* Developed software to facilitate the testing and deployment of custom image processing algorithms. This software allows our group to rapidly prototype custom algorithms and deploy them to our customers. The software has also been used by two students in their PhD research projects. These students are now doing postdoctoral work for MSTS using their research for our customers.• Designed neutron detectors for various Department of Energy experiments. Collaborated with various universities and national laboratories on the analysis of data from experiments using these detectors.• Participated in the design of two of the largest dense plasma focus (DPF) fusion neutron sources currently operating in the world.• Developed computer simulations of plasma focus devices with magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) modeling codes (ALEGRA, MACH2) to design DPFs. Used Monte-Carlo particle transport codes (Geant4, MCNP) for radiation shielding and dose calculations. Also used multiphysics codes (COMSOL, ALEGRA) in developing multi-mega-ampere transmission line systems.

Designed software that used the commercial chemical plant simulation libraries to emulate plant control consoles for a chemical plant operator training facility. This involved developing custom Java components and C interfaces to Aspen Technologies’ OTISS chemical plant simulation software.

* Developed custom CAD viewer for use in wafer fabrication failure analysis. The graphical representation of the failure data allowed us to diagnose problems with our solder reflow oven.* Developed custom statistical process control software for use in the company’s assembly line facility.* Performed thermo-mechanical modeling of the company’s proprietary multi-chip modules. This modeling resulted in diagnosis of poor product yield.
