In a time when Political News was languishing in apathy and the parties huddling in the centre, I moved to Bristol. We decided to experiment with People Power, taking stories that our viewers told us about, and tackling the politicians on their concerns. This also involved painting a camper van purple, and driving it to the G8 Summit in Gleneagles covered in demands to world leaders from the West Country. Of course, the recession soon made politics "interesting" again as the parties diverged...

Manchester And The North West

Crewe to Carlisle, Liverpool to the Penines, a big patch and we covered everything. From Louise Woodward, the British nanny caught up in the American "babyshaking" court drama to Man United's treble-winning season in 1999 culminating in European victory and the birth of Beckham-mania. News 24 was just getting going, and in those days live reporters covered everything that moved. During this time I also worked in the BBC Radio 4 Manchester team, on "The Message" and "Sunday".
