Vontu was, before acquisition by Symantec in November 07, the leader in the Data Loss Prevention space, and still is the leader in every major analyst report. As a Sr. Sales Engineer in the Southwest, I worked with my Account Manager to evangelize and socialize the idea of protecting the data itself with our prospects. Primary job function includes high level presentations to CISOs, VPs of InfoSec, and Directors of IT as well as deep dive discussions with Engineers and Analysts. A common component of the sales campaign includes Proof of Concepts which I own from start to finish. Ensuring technical requirements are clear up front and systematically satisfying those requirements while also demonstrating business value. DLP is a high level project; CISO and other executives are a part of the decision making process; interaction with this C level decision makers is common.

Pre-Sales Engineer evangelizing and implementing DLP for enterprises of all sizes.

Provide pre-sales technical services to North America Sales Team. Give product demonstrations and whiteboard sessions onsite and on conference calls and webex. Deploy software and/or hardware for Risk Assessments when prospect is ready to evaluate the solution. Address prospects' technical objections and follow up on all customer related issues. Assist Sales with technical and business questions in RFX responses. Assist Sales in aligning business requirements with technical features and requirements. Work with Product Management to plan for future requirements. Present a monthly webinar for people that register on Internet.

Work as part of the sales team in a technical pre-sales role to develop the customer base in the region; Northern California and Pacific Northwest thru Western Canada and Alaska. Responsible, along with Account Manager, for satisfying a quarterly quota. Evaluate customer requirements and assist in determining the scope of projects. Target enterprise accounts engaging in conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, and follow up on all customer related issues. Develop/maintain strong relationships with partners and customer teams in order to identify new opportunities.

Escalation Engineer for unresolved Frontline issues. Directly responsible for Network troubleshooting, LDAP, RADIUS, and NTLM authentication, RIP/OSPF, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, FTP, SSh, stale data, proxy chaining, WWW authentication, routing and networking issues. Isolate configuration and performance issues in Foundry, Radware, Catalyst, Alteon, and Cisco (Arrowpoint) switches. Debug WCCP, Cisco IOS, RIP and OSPF, and issues in Layers 2, 3, 4, and 7 of OSI.
