Hello, I'm Calan! I'm a computer science student who loves solving complicated problems with software! In my most recent internship, a software engineering role at Tyler Technologies, I helped to make invoice capture better in the Accounts Payable Automation team (APA). I did this through various means, including creating custom algorithms for improving vendor name capture, fixing bugs related (and not related) to invoice capture, and cleaning existing code. Although those additions were exciting, the most thrilling addition was adding the first Machine Learning to APA. I developed and automated the creation of models that predicted which GL Account and Department a client will choose, a task that has remained unsolved for many years, until now!In my engineering internship at Atwell LLC, I was tasked with a very tedious task, writing down all the instruments in a P&ID diagram. I decided that this could be done much faster with automation, so I developed a program using C++, Python, and VBA to automatically do it for me. I finished the summer's worth of work in two weeks, and then spent the rest of the summer automating various engineering tasks. My leadership experience as the co-head of game development and head of marketing at Game Barrier gave me the opportunity to lead a talented group of developers and artists. I played a pivotal role in programming core features, editing engaging social media content, and nurturing a strong online community. All this work led to multiple releases, including a party game that has had over 200,000 players, and 86% positive reviews on Steam! With a diverse skill set covering multiple languages, AWS, backend/frontend design, and expertise in multiple game engines, I'm poised to take on new challenges in the ever evolving software developmentOutside of the digital realm, I enjoy tennis, scuba diving, hiking, skiing, and capturing the beauty of the world through photography. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
